During the closed session, Council will discuss a human resources update, a land matter, the distribution of the Community Vibrancy Grant, and a legal proceedings update. When the meeting opens up to the public at 6:30 pm, Council will introduce a new City Planner, look to increase the corporate credit card limit with the Bank of Montreal, and potentially increase funding for the Community Vibrancy Grants by $40,500. Additional capital funding of $3,850,000 for the completion of the water treatment plant residuals management facility is also up for discussion, as is the creation of a Downtown Enhancement Grant Program.

- Medicine Hat's Christian radio station, Praise 93.7-FM, will undergo a change in ownership as UCB Media (United Christian Broadcaster Media) takes over operations on February 3rd. UCB, a registered charity with a 20-year history, will make Praise FM its second station in Alberta and the 13th in its network across Canada. The acquisition follows former owner Vista Media's unsuccessful attempt in 2017 to change the station's format from contemporary faith-based programming to commercial alternative rock.

- The Medicine Hat Police Service celebrated its 125th anniversary. The Service originated in 1899 with the hiring of a constable, and has evolved into a force of 113 officers, 7 community peace officers, and 32 professional staff. To mark this milestone, a Regimental Parade was held at the Cypress Centre pavilion and was open to the general public.
- DesignTech Engineering Limited has submitted an application to redevelop the former Michael's Motel site in the Riverside neighbourhood into a single-storey apartment building with three structures offering a total of 13 units. The motel was closed in the summer of 2022 due to its identification as a hotbed for criminal activities, prompting authorities to evacuate tenants and board up the premises. The Municipal Planning Commission is scheduled to review the application on Wednesday.
